Bicycle Tour at Sidemen Village
Bicycle tour in Sidemen village is always a fascinating experience. Sidemen is a district in Karangasem regency located about 56 km from Denpasar, the capital city of Bali. Sidemen village was visited by a painter named Walter Spies between 1939 and 1942. This village famous for its wonderful rice terrace which must be visited.It is suggested to make a bicycle tour. By riding bicycle you can enjoy the beautiful rice field terrace of sidemen village. Find bicycle is almost as easy as find car for rent. Ride along the rice field trough Sidemen and Klungkung street.
You will see the nicest smile along the road. From the north to the south there are several village that has their unique.
Kebon village is nearest village to Sidemen. Here you can see Unda river from the main street and another village which is separated by the river with beautiful Cemara hill. Mount Agung also seen from this spot. Ride down to clempung street, clempung means go down.
Your adrenaline would be splash when you bicycle go down and let the hand break free about one minute before you get the first corner. Be aware to the car in front of you.
Talibeng village is the next village. This village is located down the hill. There are monkeys on this hill you can hiking here if you like to. Down at the square to west direction is small dump for the rice field. Then finish at Lebu village get on your car or ride back to Sidemen village by bicycle.
Sidemen Village Valley
Sidemen village is located in Karangasem regency, most of its people life as farmer, artist and seller. Formerly Sidemen was a small palace, has strong relationship with Klungkung kingdom.Sidemen village is surrounded by many hill and most of the area is a paddy fields that irrigate by Subak, the Balinese traditional water system for rice field. The housing area separated with the field area, the housing area located at the right side from the road, and the field area located at the left side, that make this village very unique. The area is famous for stunning scenery, and a simple, traditional way of life.
For decades, Sidemen village has also served as a secluded heaven for the world-weary. There are several home-stays and hotels in this village so you will not find difficulties to get accommodation when travel around this beautiful village. Sidemen village is around 1 hours 30 minutes drive from the Ngurah Rai international airport. Sixty years ago, the renowned painter Walter Spies moved from Ubud to the Sidemen area to seek peace and inspiration. He felt that Ubud had already become too crowded. In Sidemen he found his place.
